The Imaging Factory Convert to B/W Pro3

The Imaging Factory Convert to B/W Pro3

2005-11-18 by chatzebussi

Hello

I just downloaded the latest (demo)version of my favorite conversion
tool, which is still the one available back in June 2003 (I think it
was simply called "Convert to B&W Pro" at the time).

The Imaging Factory people have changed the user interface quite a
bit: I miss among other things the PS and the FP4 curves. As I only
use this PlugIn for single file conversion and as it seems to work in
16bit mode as well even though on their homepage it says for the new
version

"optimized engine that favors 16-bit processing"

I wonder whether its worth upgrading.

Am I missing something? Any comments?

Thanks

The greatest advantage I have found is in being able to re-size the
preview window to the smae size as monitor screen, or close. This
greatly helps with evaluating the efeects of the filters applied

Thanks John.
But: Are you on a MAC? I run CS2/OS WIN XP prof and I can't resize the preview window. However in actual fact the fixed preview window has become (much) larger and I must admit this is quite an advantage.

I've been using Convert to B&W Pro for a couple of years on a Mac. Upgraded to v3 and
liked the resizable image window. But missed not having all the controls in one window.
So I have both versions available, but find myself going to the older version most often -
just feels better GUI-wise.

BTW, here are some recent Alcatraz pix - the B&W ones processed in Convert to B&W Pro:

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
