Does anyone know if the Nikon 4000 ED Scanner can be run with the
Digital ICE3 software turned off?

Yes. Use of ICE/GEM/ROC is optional

Ternahan,
The LS-4000 runs with or without the Digital Ice by means of checking it on
or off. The grain (GEM) & color (ROC) management parts of the Digital ICE
can be turned off or adjusted via sliders also and can be easily adjusted
quickly with a redraw function.
