Epson 1160 and MIS K4 inkset

Epson 1160 and MIS K4 inkset

2006-02-17 by Andre

I have an Epson 1160 that I want to use to print RGB duotones and
tritones.

Any idea if the MIS K4 inkset could be used in an Epson 1160 or would
these inks just gum up the print heads to no end?

Or would the MISPRO Ultrachrome Equivalent ink be a better choice?

If this is feasible, then which of the four inks in each inkset should
I use?

TIA,
André

I used an 1160 with MIS pigments for several years -- B&W and color. The
MIS Pro should work fine. The k4 colors are the same. I used only the dark
color inks. So, there are some dots with color. With the MIS-FSN B&W ink
and partitioning curves that are available, there are no dots.

Thanks for the info Paul. So with color there would be visible dots.
Probably due to the printer using only four color inks?

I do have another Epson 1160 dedicated to b&w using the MIS-FSN B&W
inkset and printing on PremierArt Hot Press. But a few days ago I
started using Epson Velvet Fine Art. These two papers are at opposite
ends in terms of tonality and contrast.

So many papers, so little time!
