Epson inks at Fry's & price quote?

Epson inks at Fry's & price quote?

2006-02-20 by jcjacobs

I bought 6 different Epson 2200 cartridges at Fry's this last Friday.
The cashier said something about "that's a lot of ink, let me get you
a quote." He then took the cartridges to an supervisor behind the
register counter and they appeared to look up a price on their system,
that's my guess. The end result was I didn't get any discount so I
don't know what was really happening. Does anyone know what was going
on or were they just wasting my time for kicks? Was I that magic one
cartridge short of a fabulous discount? Was this a check to see if the
cashier could get a commission?

Employees at some retail stores have quite a bit of discretion when it
comes to pricing. The mark up on accessories can often be huge. For
example, I recently bought a USB cable that sold in the store for $37
for $2.75 on employee discount, which is 5% above cost. The markup on
things like TVs or digital cameras, though, can be very, very small.

I have been paying $8.90 ea. at Atlex.com plus shipping. I am no where
near a Fry's. What do they charge?

They were $10.99 each. Fry's www.outpost.com has them for the same
price with ground shipping for my zip code of $6.77 for quantity one
and $8.22 for quantity 7. Looks like you get a price break on the
shipping for quantities more than one. Sales tax charged for AZ, CA,
CT, GA, OH, TX, NV, WA, IL and IN.

What does your shipping run from Atlex? I see they have a $25 minimum
order requirement.

Maybe that $84 makes some sense if it's for one full set of 7 carts (one of
each color).

You must be buying something other than Epson Stylus Photo 2200
cartridges if they cost $84 each. I paid $10.99 each at Fry's. I know
I can get them cheaper online but I needed them right away.

for UPS ground.
