Permajet Fibre Base Gloss

Permajet Fibre Base Gloss

2006-02-23 by williambowen5259

I've just discovered a new paper that Permajet are supposed to be
launching at FOCUS in Birmingham this weekend.
The sample I received looks just like a traditional silver fibre
print ... fantastic! It could be just the paper I've been wating for.
According to Permajet's office, it's available at Silverprint, Process
Supplies, Calumet and PSC (Flash Centre) in London.

I'd be interested to know if anyone knows anything about it, as the
sample looked exactly like an Agfa Record Rapid print from my darkroom
days!

This may very well be the 'Crane Museo Silver Rag' that all the buzz
has been about. I have a note to let me know when it is available with
Jennifer at Digital Art Supplies. Steve

Is this the same as the paper described on the Silverprint web site as
"DELTA MATT FIBRE 271" on
http://www.silverprint.co.uk/inkj22.html

or do they claim it's a newer one?

Apparently not. That paper has been around for a while and has a matt
finish, whereas the new one has a silky, shiny finish.

Given Permajet don't actually make any paper, could it just be that they're
selling re-branded Crane Museo Silver Rag?

Record Rapid. Oooh. I still have a few boxes left in the fridge, but
mostly grades 2 and 4 now.

There's also Innova Fibaprint Glossy which should be on sale soon, if
it isn't already. In a month or two there might be more varieties of
imitation silver gelatin paper than there are real ones. Well, I guess
that's already happened for colour.

Best,
Helen

I would bet the Innova product and the Permajet products are exactly the
same given that their pure cotton bright white (Omega) and natural white
(Alpha) are.

Yes both for color prints and B+W via ABW/QTR

ABW has been driving me crazy as the screen-to-print is not accurate.

As mentioned in a few posts back Steve Kale suggests using QTR-Create-ICC tool to add
soft-proofing and color management to the ABW mix. This is the primary reason I purchased
PrintFix Pro. You need the "Pro" version.

I purchased the Pro Suite version that comes with the Spyder for about $430.00 on eBay.
Without the Spyder it's about $360.00.

There's a print made on a sample of the Innova paper in the January
print exchange, isn't there? I'll compare it to the Brand X paper (I
don't want to upset anyone with irresponsible publicity) tonight.

Best,

remember the press release of the Da Vinci:
QUOTE
"The Da Vinci Fibre Gloss paper was developed over the last two years
by Danny Chau, the owner of ChauDigital, with an unnamed manufacturer.

It is 'designed to give inkjet prints the look and feel of a
traditional black-and-white silver halide fibre paper............ Chau also says
that the paper works especially well with Epson UltraChrome K3 ink
range, with its three grades of black.

The paper is now available by visiting www.chaudigital.com, but will
also be sold by Permajet as its own brand Fibre Base Gloss 295gsm
paper."
