R800 Banding

R800 Banding

2006-02-27 by Gib Robinson

The last two weeks I've seen banding on prints (both color & B&W) made on my
R800. I have no idea why or whether there is a solution to it. I've had the
printer for about two years and used it extensively so I suppose it could
just be wear. If there is a fix I'd love to hear about it. Would QTR be
likely to help?

In the long run (next few months) I hope to buy a K3 ink printer, but I'd
love to keep this one for glossy printing.

Thanks,

--Gib

Gib,

I am sure you have thought of this, but just in case have you run a
nozzle check? I have an 800 and had a clog in one cart that resulted
in banding and other assorted problems. As I recall, there is a
smart clean cycle that deals only with the effected cart on the 800.

Thank you, Steve.

I did run a nozzle check and realigned the heads. That helped with the
most egregious banding, but I still get some banding at the end (last
1/2 inch or so) of several images.

Hi Gilbert,

With banding the last 1/2 inch or so, it is possible the feed rollers
are dirty. Try cleaning these by running a sheet of matt paper
sprayed with Windex on both sides through repeatedly and see if that
helps.
