Printer profiting with Vuescan

Printer profiting with Vuescan

2006-02-28 by Richard Smallfield

Hi,
I have Vuescan, but have yet to do the printer profiling with it. Have people found it to be effective? (I am trying to find a cheap way of profiling my printer>)

thanks,
Richard

Roll Paper in 2400 - What a Mess!

2006-02-28 by Steve Bye

I probably should take a one-day cooling off period before sending this
email, but what the heck ...

I just had my first experience with roll paper in the 2400. It was not good.

I had a 12"x23" image so I made a custom paper size of 12.95"x24." It would
not allow 13x24, which probably makes sense. Everything looked correct in
print preview. While loading the paper was a royal pain in the butt, I got
it loaded and the image printed just fine, but then the paper just kept
coming out. It spilled out about another 24" of paper and stopped. Is this
normal?

I had forgotten that there is no cutter on the 2400, unlike older Epson
13x19 printers I owned. Roll paper without a cutter seems like a bad design,
but maybe that's just me. I cut off the image. It was fine.

Then held in the roll paper button to roll all the extra paper back onto the
roll. It pulled back most of the paper, but not all, and in doing do made a
nice crimp in the paper at the back of the printer. Damn! Since the paper
was now damaged beyond saving, and because I was mad, I tore off the roll
and pressed the feed button until it spit out the small torn piece was stuck
in the printer.

There must be a better way. I love Epson, but right now I'm kind of hoping
Canon's and HP's new printers kick their butt.

Is there a trick to this? Or good instructions somewhere? Thanks.

Steve

I thought it only had scanner profiling aboard. Are you sure ?
