Digital BW, The Print

I am installing a MIS cart for the CIS quadtone inset for the very 
first time. I didn't get a manual with the kit and the online 
instructions indicate some pads or "switch activators" to go in to 
the cart holder with the cart - I have left the inks to sit overnight 
and am about to place them in the 1160 - are these "pads" imperitive? 
Hope not!
