Epson 1280 and MIS UT2 Inks

Epson 1280 and MIS UT2 Inks

2006-03-29 by mbrouphy

To All:

I just purchased a new Epson 1280 to be a dedicated B/W printer for my
infrared images, both digital and scanned film. I plan to use the MIS
UT2 ink set on this printer.

I'm looking for some advice to hit the ground running, so to speak, on
effectively working with this printer/ink combination. Any initial
assistance, links, reference sources, etc would definitely be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

MIKE..

A. Follow Paul Roark's workflow, available link on MIS SITE

OR

B. Spend another $50.00 and get Harrington's QTR ( I think you'll find the
link also on the MIS SITE..)

EITHER will give you GREAT results!..I find myself using the QTR more
frequently, as it seems a little more "intuitive" for me...

My Readme is getting a bit out of date, but still where I'd start. See
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT2-Readme.htm

I'd get a couple empty carts and fill one with MIS Cleaning fluid (to be put
in whenever the printer is not going to be used for a week) and I'd fill the
second cart with Windex (to be used every so often to clean out the head).

Paul,
Thanks for the info. I'll study it over the next couple of days
until the printer and the inks get here. I'll post back on the
results. Mike

Excuse my ignorance here, but would that be the 4-color cart (filling all four), or just one
individual cart? If just the one, which position?

Steve.

The 1280 has 2 carts -- one for black ink and one for all 5 color positions.
I'd have a Windex and MIS (or other) cleaning fluid set for both cart
positions.

The 1280/90 uses a color cart with 5 colors. So I expect you need:
*one black cart filled with cleaning fluid,
*one black cart filled with windex,
*one 5color cart with every color position filled with cleaning fluid
and
*one 5color cart with every color position filled with windex.

Right?
