R220: ink on trailing edge of thick paper
2006-03-30 by Chris Ellis
Hi Apologies if this has been addressed before - I can't find anything in the archives. A5 and A4 prints I make on thicker paper (eg Photo Rag 308) in my R220 often get ink wiped onto the trailing edge of the sheet by the bottom of the print head. This happens when the trailing edge comes out from under the rollers and lifts up slightly. I've tried raising and lowering the angle of the tray which catches the paper. This makes a difference but doesn't solve the problem. I also tried taping another sheet of paper with masking tape onto the trailing edge of the sheet going through the printer. (This effectively gives a single sheet which is as wide as an A4 sheet but twice as long, with the print on the first sheet and the second sheet held under the rollers once the first comes free.) This worked in terms of stopping the ink smudges, but when I removed the tape some of the backing of the paper came away. Has anyone else come across this problem? Thanks for your advice Chris
