R220 MIS inks: proceedure for extended non-usage

R220 MIS inks: proceedure for extended non-usage

2006-03-29 by mimimike43

Hello all, I am new to the forum.

Just bought an Epson R220 printer to use exclusively with B&W MIS
inks.

For times when the printer will not be used for a period of time, to
prevent clogging problems I was thinking about cleaning the system
before hand. Paul Roark mentioned buying some spare empty cartridges
to keep on hand. I was also thinking about some cleaning fluid also.

Can anyone tell me where to buy spare cartridges and cleaning fluid for
this printer, and what would the proceedure be for cleaning the system
with the empty cartridges and cleaning fluid.

As well, is there anything that has to be done before switching an
Eboni black cartridge with a Photo black. Or is it just a simple in and
out proceedure?

Feedback much appreciated

Michael

Weink and MIS both sell cartridges, and both sell cleaning fluid.
Instructions should be at both sites, though you can do a cartridge
change, and then a couple of cleaning cycles and you should be fine.
Check by printing the 6 color purge pattern that you can find at MIS
and other places. If there is little color making it ont the paper,
then you are all set. You should probably leave the cleaning carts in
place while you are away. Cover the printer to keep dust out.
