Digital BW, The Print

Last week I spent 4 days  - Thursday thrhough Sunday -at the Stephen
Johnson Fine Art Digital Printing workshop in Pacifica CA. I want to
report that my experience was very postitive. Photographers with
intermediate to advanced printing skills could benefit greatly from this
workshop. I've done B&W printing on a 2200 for about 2 years and have
been reasonably satisfied with the results after discovering QTR (on
this list!).  At the same time, I wanted to learn from a professional
and possibly advance my skills to a higher level. My concern with
attending a workshop was that it would be at a beginner level -
something that I needed a couple of years ago.

I'd estimate that 80% of the workshop covered new ground for me. The
lab that Steve has set up is fantastic. It was a privilege to have him
evaluate my prints and help me improve them. Check out his website.

about what I've learned and the professional delivery of the information.

Glad to hear it. He's teaching a workshop on digital fine art  
printing this summer at the Maine Photographic Workshops. I've  
registered for it. Hope it is as good as your experience.
