Hi Tom... Sounds like a wonderful trip! I lived in Las Vegas for 20 years. Traveled to Death Valley a lot. The best time is in the early spring when the flowers are blooming...however October will be awesome too! I vote for both ends of the day...for sure. However, all day long there will be good opportunity depending on where you are and which way you look. I love the desert. It's the world naked! I look forward to seeing an image or two from your journey. -Jim Coffee-

Hi-
I'm planning a trip to the Kelso Dunes in Majave National Preserve in
mid to late October.
Any reasons why this might not be a good time of year to go there?
Any advice on time of day to shoot the dune? Sunrise or sunset? or
both?
Any "secret" spots to get great shots from ????
