Hello Igor..

Are you saying that the cart itself is "EMPTY" of black ink when you take it
out and look at it, or is it just not printing black?

Hello,

I'm using spongeless carts from MIS with UT-FS ink in my 1160, and
what happens now and then is that the black ink runs dry (it stops
printing black), even if I just refilled the cart. I can get it to
flow again by doing cleanings etc, but after a couple of prints it may
very well happen again. I'm spilling a lot of ink, paper and time this
way (not to mention my nerves).

Does anyone know what causes this and how I can prevent it? Is the
cart perhaps defect?

Thank you.

No, the cart is not empty. It's full (or half full) of ink, but
occasionally it won't come out!

Igor..

You could have a defective cart with a poppet valve blocking the flow, OR
you may need to "re-prime" the flow by drawing out approximately 1cc of ink
from the exit port using a syringe with a bottom fill adapter attached....If
that doesn't work, CALL MIS tech support and they will be glad to assist
you..They may need to replace the cart....I have personally found that these
carts DO NOT last forever..I've been getting 3-4 monts to 6 months on
mine..BUT they are CHEAP to replace..

Good luck..
