Large format tone shift experiments
2006-09-05 by Paul Roark
One of the problems I've run into with large format printers is the tone shift when my 7500 sits idle for long periods of time. Actually, the shift is even detectable in a 6 day wait. This issue does not affect the usual desktop printers, nor does it affect service bureau where the large format printers are used regularly. Additionally, for those who do leave printers idle for a while, the use of the MIS autoprint program has been found to be effective at stopping the tone shift. (See http://www.inksupply.com/cobra.cfm#ap ) However, I want to stop or greatly reduce the tone shift even when the printer is sitting idle. My preliminary results are encouraging. See http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/Tone_shift.pdf Obviously this is just a preliminary result. However, I'll be living with the ink for some time. So, I'll be able to see if this is real improvement or not. Paul www.PaulRoark.com <http://www.paulroark.com/> [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
