Old set of Piezo NK7's for 2200 problem & questions

Old set of Piezo NK7's for 2200 problem & questions

2006-10-01 by Michael Vendrell

For several reasons related to my non-photographic
life and some initial problems with incorrect profiles
my 2200 set idle for about 9 months with an originally
new set of piezo NK7's in it. Last night, finally
with the time and the upgraded QTR profiles loaded, I
fired it up. No mater what I did I couldn't get the
position 1 Black to fire so I changed that position
only to an MIS Eboni I had on-hand and voila' -
ignition and lift-off. (I don't have a spare NK7
black to put into the printer at present - not to
mention they are $17 each!)

I know this is a bit wacky - but does anyone know what
the effect of using Eboni (or Epson UC MK for that
matter) would be if the remaining set of NK7's (2-7)
remained in the printer. Yes, I know I can try it and
indeed I will probably use what's left of this set in
doing so, but didn't want to re-invent the wheel if
someone else had already been down this road.

I also like the idea of using the Eboni for BO
printing as I don't have experience with the NK 7 MK
for this purpose and just leaving the 2-7 Nk's in the
machine for septone. Anyone have experience here?

Thanks for your indulgance.

Re: Eboni with Piezo NK7s Question

No reply to my original question so I'm asking again.
And I admit this is much more prosaic and pedestrian
than the print-off which is a great idea. I regret I
cannot be there! Michael Vendrell

Re: Eboni with Piezo NK7s Question

I have no direct experience with the K7 inks, so take that into
consideration when ou read this.

If you rebuild the QTR setup for the eboni, it should be fine.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
