I set up a 2000P for a few people using the MIS FS & FSN inks. It worked
very well. See http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/2000P-FS-Readme.htm
I appear to have used the newer driver, v. 5.21. I suspect the intrusion of
the black ink did not cause bothersome dots because the dark grays used are
darker than the color inks that Epson used.
Note that in addition to the curves I made for profiling papers, Roy
Harrington's Create ICC could easily be used to control this setup. If you
use Create ICC, and not my old curves, you might find EZ-W in the yellow
position with FSN in the others will give you a nice neutral tone on many
papers. The EZ-W is denser than the FS ink that is called for by the setup
in the Readme file, above. So, my curves will not be quite right with it.
If you buy the spongeless cartridges, you can experiment with what
combination of FS (warm) and FSN (neutral - cool) inks works best for you
and the papers you use. With the spongeless carts you can simply suck out
one ink and put in another. Buying ink bulk from MIS is the best way to
save money.
Good luck with the 2000P. I was quite impressed with the ones I set up,
particularly with matte papers, where they achieved one of the best dmaxs
I've seen.
