refilling sponge-less carts

refilling sponge-less carts

2006-10-21 by Jerry Blanton

I have a very simple question about refilling the MIS sponge-less
carts for the 2400. Do I need a separate syringe for each cart or
can I reuse the same one for each color?

Just rinse and dry completely between colors. Works great.

Since they're very economical, I use a separate syringe for each color.
It's not necessary, but is much more convenient than rinsing between
fillings.

I have been following this thread.

I have found a seller on eBay for the refillable carts.

The question I have is about inks. What do people recommend as an alternative to the Epson K3 inks?

Dave.

MIS inks are one very good alternative. (www.inksupply.com)

They also have the spongless carts, and whatever else you might need for loading you own.

I share Tom's opinion. I bought the K4 inkset about a month ago. I
have been using the profiles that paper manufacturers' provide for the
epson k3 inks. I tried it on several red river papers, moab's kayenta
and epson's enhanced matte, and the results are quite good.

I bought enough to do each color because the process goes much faster.
I refill all at the same time even though only a couple may need it. I
use MIS carts and inks for my R2400. No problems outside of one bad
chip. I keep a couple of sets of chips onhand.

I haven't refilled the R2400 carts yet, but used MIS refillable's on
the 1280 before. I usually clean the syringe and the botton fill
adapter with hot water and refill the next color. I do several
cleaning cycles until the water comes out clear.

I use one syringe for all. Just rinse it thoroughly in water between
colours, and you shouldn’t have a problem. I also mostly refill all at once
to avoid wasting ink.

Since syringes and needles are so inexpensive, I have one for every ink
color. Each is labeled, and I do rinse them out after every use. (I
rinse them all at the end.) I like the MIS 4" needles, and I pick up
syringes at my local Fleet Farm. They have needles as well, but they're
thicker and shorter.
