Digital BW, The Print

Thank you for all of your replies and suggestions.  My next problem is this:  my 2450 went belly up before I did my first scan.
   
  So, I am in the market for another scanner and fast.  You can reply to me off group or on group.  How much more will I gain with the V700 with the dual lights is worth the extra $100. over the 4990?  I have set my limit at $500 so one is a little under and the other a little over.
   
  Any other suggestions?

I use the 4990 to scan glass negatives and have benn very pleased with the results. Scan them emulsion side down and the flip them horizontally in your edit software.

It is unlikely that the glass negatives need a higher 
resolution, that is if they were not made more recently for 
scientific work etc.
