Scanning 35mm b&w negatives

Scanning 35mm b&w negatives

2002-01-22 by ddouglas74

I am scanning 35mm b&w negatives using a Microtek ScanMaker 35t into
Adobe Photoshop v6.0.

Is there an optimal resolution for scanning? If so what is it?
If not, is there a general rule-of-thumb?

My b&w images were shot with Kodak Plus-x and Tri-X.

Can anyone suggest pitfalls to avoid?

Any other comments would also be very welcome.

Thank you.

Hi David,

Scan at the optical resolution of the scanner, and when printing, resize the
image but UNCHECK the interpolation box on the bottom of the re-size box and
just let the PPI to the printer fall where it may...as long as it's above
180/240 or so.
