"The Lab values are not in order..." error

2007-01-01 by guy_staley

Using the Create ICC program, I'm getting this error, even though I can see no problems
with my data.

Here's the input text file:

Gray	Lab_L
0	95
5	89
10	85
15	81
20	77
25	74
30	70.5

65	51
70	47
75	44
80	40
85	37
90	30
95	23
100	14

And here's the output text file:

This is my first time using this program, and I'm following Paul Roarke's method.

Any suggestions???

I only see on decimal point in you list. If that's the case, these aren't valid LAB values. And, the last on 10014 can't be a valid value. What are you reading you test strips with?

Guy: I cut and pasted your values into a text file (.txt) and had no
problems creating a profile and output file. I don't know what to
tell you. You could download the program again. Check you data file
for extra spaces at the end of each line and at the end of the data.
Did you use a true text editor like notepad to leave no formatting
behind?

Try separating the columns with tabs.

The values were originally formatted per your instructions, Paul. The formatting gets all
funny when I copy and past into my post.

Let me try again without copying and pasting.

I created two columns, seperated by tabs, like this:

Gray Lab_L
0 95
5 89
10 85
15 81
20 77
25 74
30 70.5
35 67
40 65
45 62
50 59
55 56
60 54
65 51
70 47
75 44
80 40
85 37
90 30
95 23
100 14

Hope that comes across properly in the post.

Some particulars: I'm using QTR-Create-ICC version 2.4.2.0 running on a Mac in OSX
10.4.8. I'm creating the text file in Text Edit as an RTF file.

It's odd that Jeff had no issues when he copied my data into a new test file. Could it be that
my file is an RTF file as opposed to a .txt file???

Thanks to all for the support!

-Guy

Make it a text file instead of RTF. That could be it.

Re: [Digital BW] "The Lab values are not in order..." error

2007-01-02 by guy_staley

That was the problem. Saved as a regular .txt file and all is well; or at least the Create-ICC
program is outputing a curve.

Problem now is that when I actually use the curve, my step wedge is completely blocked
up from about 70% on down.

I'm trying to get a handle on this, but I'm having a hard time so far using UT-3D inkset on
a 2200 with CS2. The step wedge with NO curve applied is much better.

I'm going to start again and see if I can improve things.

Thanks,
-Guy
