2200/UT7 and the new "Big Three"

While I was trying to solve the Pizza Wheel marks and roller marks 2 weeks ago I came across something. Even after I realized I was supposed to be using MK, not PK and got all my profiles set up so I wasn't throwing massive amounts of black on the paper I was still getting marks on the print surface. Everything was by the book now on my method. I found the following. I had a box of Crane SR, Hana' Fine Art Pearl and Innova F Glossy. I was doing images on each as tests to decide on one, well maybe 2 papers to use when I want the air dried fiber look. In every case the Crane would get roller marks, the Hana 50% of the time and the Innova never. Yeah never. I'll throw a guess out there that the way the Innova absorbs the ink is fast enough that even on a print with lots of very dark or black areas by the time the paper hits the rollers and pizza wheels it is dry enough not be marked. Even if my theory is wrong it seems to work that way. B&W print fans that we are sometimes you have to print color. Another find was that all 3, and I will include a 4th, the Epson P'Luster I proof on for these papers all need to dry after they come out of the printers. The shadow areas aren't neutral till they dry. They may have a green tint. Once they dry they are OK except the B&W favorite the Innova F Gloss. The Innova shadows never loose the tint. The Crane and the Hana do and both are very nice color papers. I lean towards the Crane Sr here. Hope this helps someone out there. I really like all 3 papers. Neil
