Epson R2400: Been over three months since last print

Epson R2400: Been over three months since last print

2007-01-25 by FRD

Hey group,
I've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to attend to my
photography. But I've got a huge project coming up this weekend and need to
print from my Epson.

It's probably been over three months since my last print and I'm afraid of
damaging the heads (how likely is it that buildup can do this?) and am not
sure what sort of pre-print procedure can best mitigate any problems...

I am printing both B&W and color and using stock K3 inks.

I don't see how your printer would get damaged from non-use but you
might have some dried ink clogging the nozzles.

I would start by running a nozzle check then up to 3 cleanings if
necessary. If you are still clogged then let the printer sit for awhle
(at least a few hours) and run another nozzle check.

In the future, run a nozzle check every 4 or 5 days during periods of
non-use. Doesn't take much ink and well worth it to keep the printer
happy.

Good luck,

Linda

I just start doing some paper tests last weekend after not using my
2400 for over 6 months. I did a quick nozzle check and, after two
nozzle cleanings, I was good to go for printing.

I was very surprised that that was all it took to be able to print
again. I am using K3 ink.
