Mono Laser; max memory vs resolution

Just for proofing and beginning to learn PS I'd like to step up to a better mono laser that is quick, and quiet. I have been using a Action Laser 1500 that has the max memory and 600dpi. I would consider something that had more memory and 1200 dpi. I want to avoid fussing with inkjet and its ink costs. Would something that had a much larger volume of max memory and 1200 dpi fit the bill?
