photo chrome. black one is matte, light black is not matte thohgh.
but i kan see the loss of grayscale when i convert to the hahnemuehle profile in photoshop
("convert to profile...."). so i was hoping there were a good profile out there for this paper
wich doesn't loose some of the gray scale.

I find I have to use an additional curves layer with "off the shelf"
profiles when I check the proofing in Photoshop as most printer profiles
seem to lose some contrast. These curves are consistent from print to print
with each paper so once made I save them and use them again and again. I
created them all by eye and they seem to work just fine for both B&W and
colour.

Are you printing an RGB or Greyscale image? The profiles from
Hahnemuhle are for RGB, not Greyscale. I use Greyscale for all my
bw images and only use the profiles from Hahnemuhle for soft-
proofing in Photoshop. Even with soft-proofing, I have found the
best way to determine if I am getting what I want is to make a test
print.

With my image in Greyscale, I print from Photoshop and let the Epson
driver and ABW do the work, using my default Greyscale profile,
which is Dot Gain 20%. Depending on the photo and paper, I
sometimes have to use adjustment curves to fine-tune the tones for
the paper.

This is what works for me. I just thought I would share it.

thanks, i will check this out. I am though printing in rgb, and the picture is a mixture of b&w
an color. I found i got the closest when i printed 720dpi hw. matte mode on the printer.
thanks for the comments.
