Help...Spongless carts draining?

Help...Spongless carts draining?

2007-04-12 by Cleavis

I've used spongeless carts in both a 1270 and a 1280 for over a year
or so. Some time ago the 1280 loaded with color inks seems to have
spilled it's guts (ink) out through the bottom and pooled. The 1270
is doing the same to my B&W inks but the ink hasn't pooled underneath
the printer. I wasn't sure what was up so I went to new carts, fresh
loaded and primed yet the printer is still dropping it's ink.

There's nothing obviously wrong without having taken the printer
apart, i.e. using a flashlight looking under the rest area for the
print head.

Clues?

Thanks,
Cleavis

your waste pads could be saturated. On my r220, i drain the ink outside the
printer.

My current question is (based on evolution below) if someone has the
handy info, MIS chip resetter, SK168, what is the positive/negative
relationship for batteries 1,2 and 3? I wasn't get a response from
it and thought the batteries were dead, so replaced without making
sufficient note of the orientation!

Still working on this a bit.

I didn't see a specific reference on MIS's site for "newer" top-hat
style of plugs...I'd like that as a convenience. I'm suspicious that
the plugs are not the primary problem as I replaced them with a new
set along with the new cartridge during the first attempt to fix.
Also that I would understand it if one ink were drainging faster than
others but it's both carts/all inks in my 1280. Probably running too
many cleaning cycles.

With that in mind I opened the printer up to clean up the waste pads
to the best of my ability.

Thanks again folks.
