I think the 1280 makes slightly better prints than the 1160 with the
Variable Tone inks.  However, I know what to look for in test strips.  In
actual prints, most would see no difference.

The variable-tone control curves are not done yet for the 1200.  It'll be a
couple of weeks, I'd estimate.  However, I will do them and let the forum
know when they are done (or close enough to be used even if still in draft)
There seem to be a lot of people with 1200s that want to use the inkset.

You might consider using the 1160 for B&W and 1200 for color.  I think the
6-ink printers have a much more significant advantage for color than B&W.

My experience is that each printer type takes significantly different
curves.  Unless you are very comfortable with adjusting curves, I'd
recommend waiting.

If the 1160 is available, I'd put the MIS Variable Tone inks in it and start
printing.  Those curves are all done.
