New to B&W inkjet- c88 problems

2007-06-04 by baweasel

I got a c88+ fairly cheap to try the MIS EZ inksets on, and am having trouble getting them to
work in my printer. I load the cartridges in just like any other, and the printer won't print,
telling me to replace the yellow cartridge. It works fine with a yellow epson cartridge, so I
figure there is something wrong with the MIS cartridge.
 Any tricks I should try?

It's probably the MIS chip. Take the one off the Epson cart and put it on
the MIS cart. (Do you have a chip re-setter?) I use a small piece of tape
at the top of the chip to hold them.

Paul's recommendation to poach the yellow chip should work. I had the
same problem once on my C86, and that solution worked for me.

It's possible the chip isn't defective, and that it simply needs to be
reset with a chip resetter. So I wouldn't toss it yet.

As you may already know, MIS sells an Epson chip resetter (about $20),
as well as spare chips.

I also had this problem with a C86 years ago and contacted MIS. If I
remember correctly it was the black cartridge since the printer worked
with the Epson black. Since I used some ink from all the cartridges
troubleshooting they send me a complete replacement set, not just the
defective one.
