Digital BW, The Print

Today I made my first black and white prints after installing
Lightzone 3.0.  A number of Light Zone users had reported excellent
results printing from Lightzone.  Today was my first major test of
LZ's printing abilities.

I printed what I consider one of my most difficult images directly
from LZ 3.0 to my Epson 2200 using the printer managed setting
recommended by Harmon.  They are:

Ink: Matte Black(MK) only
Media: Watercolor Paper Radiant White
Mode: Custom/Advanced/1440dpi/Select ICM  

The resulting print was amazing...a warm tone(near neutral) no color
cast...much like Clayton Jones' black only prints with Epson MK but
with full range gradation and not as so warm as the black only with
MK. I now plan to try MIS Eboni.

I guess after almost 3 years of wrestling with Photoshop and numerous
black & white printing techniques, I am happily disgusted.

I would like to hear from others who are using Lightzone to print
Black & White.

David, That is interesting. I was unaware that the editing software 
played a role in printing. I thought that it was the sole domain of the 
print driver, RIP and profiles. What role does the editing software 
play in the printing task?
