1280 vs. 1160

1280 vs. 1160

2007-07-03 by John Wilton

I have a situation requiring replacement of the CFS on my 1160.
(off-tone Piezotone inks; plugin). 1280s are available used for next
to nothing. Would I be likely to get sharper/smoother prints from a
1280 with quadtone inks and the plugin? or 1280 with UT2 and QTR?

I suggest that you go for a 2200 instead of
the 1280 for your aftermarket pigment inkset
- they seem to be a lot more reliable with
pigment inks. I've gotten the impression that
the 1280 was almost singlehandedly
responsible for all the posts about clogging
problems. I said "almost", there certainly
are others, but the 2200 seems relatively
reliable in that department.
