Can there be a lack of pressure in a 9600 cart?

Can there be a lack of pressure in a 9600 cart?

Seems like when I get down to the end of a cart on my 9600 I get more banding that shows
only in solid black areas. Can low volume of ink in a cart cause less pressure in a cart,
causing banding?

In short... Yes, but it's odd. You might have a partial line clog or a
dirty damper.

Mark,

On my 9600 I often notice that with Ultrachrome when I'm right down at
the end of the MK cart. As these dense carbon black carts get low they
need shaking and mixing even more than usual. Sometimes I wonder if
there is more base and less pigment involved at that point. I've found
with Epson inks it becomes more trouble to worry about it than it is
to replace the cart with a new one. I'd rather not ruin a print
halfway through and all the cursing that goes with that. I haven't see
this with K7 yet though. I make sure I shake them every week.
