Guys,

So if what was said about the "SI" program is correct a series of 
manually performed 10% unsharp masks will do the same thing. I wonder 
how Nik-Sharpener handles sharpening. I have heard folks rave about 
it.

Any thoughts?

I bought NIK sharpener and don't use it as much as I once did... I 
think it tends to oversharpen (I'm using a D1 and D1x) at times and 
it is quite slow compared to straight USM. It uses edge sharpening 
technology which does keep pretty good smoothness in the uniform 
areas and allows you to really tweak up a problem shot.

I think they have a demo that is crippled for printing but does have 
all the features to play with.

This isn't an upsizing tool and like all sharpening tools cautions 
that no sharpening of any kind be done in camera or in PS prior to 
using it (don't know if that is propaganda or what...might be why I 
think it oversharpens... I usually shoot the D1x at "normal 
sharpening").
