Harmon Gloss FB AI Paper

Harmon Gloss FB AI Paper

2007-09-20 by steveh0607

FYI Everyone,

This is a fairly new paper from Harmon. The paper has a very smooth texture, is glossy, but
not too glossy and renders a very clean, sharp print. It doesn't curl. The sell sheet says it
contains Alumina to provide the gloss, density and "vibrancy". It also smells like a dark room.

Whatever the chemical composition, I couldn't see any bronzing or color-shifting (Epson
R2400 with Epson inks). The image looks like it's in the paper, not on it (hard to describe this
point). Can't measure dmax, but black is very black. Very expensive!

Subjectively speaking, I think it prints better than Innova Fiba Print Gloss (the only other FB-
type paper I've used).

I'm testing Harmon Gloss paper on the Epson 3800 with QTR. I
downloaded the HGloss profile from the website for soft proofing in
Photoshop but it makes the image look very dark. Maybe I just need to
uncheck preserve RGB numbers. Is there an alternative to making a
custom profile? What do you suggest? Thanks.
