Epson R220 and Epson Ink

Epson R220 and Epson Ink

2007-11-10 by michaelaheald

Hello! I've been using the R220, MIS inks, and Kirkland Glossy paper
for 8x10s after receiving guidance from this forum.
With the recent Epson printer decision, MIS inks and alternatives
will be harder to come by.
How do B&W prints look with the R220 when using Epson inks? Are
there profiles for the R220 with Epson inks for B&W printing just as
there were with MIS inks?
Any other suggestions that would allow me to continue to make nice
B&W prints with the R220 (other than upgrading!). Thanks and best
regards.

MIS bulk inks to refill those carts you have will be just as available as
they ever were. Keep the carts. Even the pre-filled ones from MIS are
easily refillable.

I've refilled the same MIS prefilled cartridges for about two years now
and they still work fine. I do have some backups and backup chips to
keep me going. The inks should remain available as the infringement
issue covered cartridges, not inks.

The problem with the Epson inks is that there aren't multiple greys for
their lower-end printers like the R220, so you really don't have a
choice- for B&W you need third party inks. Don't give up.
