Ilford Gold Fibre Silk - Prints are too dark

Ilford Gold Fibre Silk - Prints are too dark

2008-01-06 by Robert Paup

I am trying this paper and find that the profile from Ilford makes prints that are too dark as compared to prints on Epson semi-matte or Epson lustre. Do I need to change the profile? ( Printing on a 4000 with WinXP.

Bob,

I'm using the GFS on both an Epson 3800 and a Canon iPF5000. You
might want to try a different rendering intent and see if that helps.
I'm quite pleased so far with this paper.

I tried both perceptual and relative colorimetric. The perceptual was lighter but the blacks encompased more of the gray levels than when I used luster or semi-matte.

I know this doesn't help you directly, but I've had no problem
with print tone after creating my own profile with PrintFIX Pro

Not sure why the Ilford-supplied profile doesn't work well.
