R260 or R1800 for BO printing?

R260 or R1800 for BO printing?

2008-03-23 by charliect2002

I have an unused R260 and an R1800 printer. I have been using QTR and
the R1800 for BO printing with one black ink and no toning and have
gotten pretty good results. However, In the hope of even better
results, I was planning to set the R260 up with a set of UT-RCW ink
cartridges from InSupply. I ordered the ink cartridges, but they have
been back ordered for almost a month now. Having had so much time to
think about it, I am wondering if I should use the R1800 MK-3 process
instead. I understand it will make the R1800 into a matte printer, but
I think I can live with that. Or maybe I should stick with QTR and one
black ink (I actually don't notice any banding or other significant
imperfections, just quite a lot of warmth). So, which is the better set
up, the R260 with UT-RCW black only inks, the R1800 with 3-MK or the
R1800 as it is with QTR and one black ink?

Thanks for your opinions and I apologize for the rookie issues.

I'm using BO with R265 with the original black with very good results,
especially on glossy and semiglossy Epson papers. I have a curve for
Enhance Heavyweight paper as well, but it doesn't work too well, the
ink is a bit too metameric on this paper.

I wrote an article in italian on this topic:

I did myself the curves:

Hope this helps.
