Hello Steve, >I am using an Epson 3800 and 7800. Simply put what matte paper has >the highest D-Max I use a 2400, same K3 inks. I've tested a lot of papers and found that Velvet fine Art has the best dmax with K3 inks. PhotoRag is better than VFA with Eboni based MIS inks. This was confirmed by several people in this forum in summer 2005 after the K3 printers were released. K3 is a different animal - some things get better, some worse, compared to Eboni. I've been testing a lot of papers with a densitometer (measurements performed by Steve Karafyllakis) in preparation for a new K3-based "Paper Chase" article. Here are the results of the top few papers: Epson Velvet Fine Art - 1.75 Epson EEM - 1.70 Innova Cold Press Art - 1.66 H. Photo Rag - 1.65 Innova Soft Texture Art - 1.62 H. Museum Etching - 1.61 Premier Fine Art 270 - 1.61 Article #5 at the link below has the results of the original Eboni BO tests done a few years ago. This article will soon be accompanied by the K3 version. Regards, Clayton Info on black and white digital printing at http://www.cjcom.net/digiprnarts.htm I-Trak 2.1 http://www.cjcom.net/itrak.htm

from my experience VFA really does have the highest d-max, but H.PhotoRag 460 is pretty close. not a huge difference from the 308 but better all the same... --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Clayton Jones" <cj@...> wrote:
