Hi all, A striggered by another thread (on Hahnemuehle Bamboo paper): For quite some time I'm looking for an inkjet-compatible paper that resembles the traditional japanese rice paper. Apparently Hahnemuhle had this in the past (Japan Fibres), but it has been discontinued. Is anyone aware of a similar paper? Joost

There is a place in Santa Monica California that sells Japanese Gampi paper.
Heromi paper carries many different types of this paper inc coated and un
coated for digital printing. They have gampi papers as thin as tissue paper. I
have printed on this material many times with great success.

Hiromi is a fine company. I used to use them often a few years ago. However, this Phoenix place in South Carolina is a much bigger bang for the buck. Look into the Japanese section, and look for Mulberry rolls. This an excellent value for rolls, bleached and unbleached. Buying sheets from most of these places is far too expensive if you use a lot of it. They have papers from all over the world. Too many for me to try. They will also send you samples. http://www.phoenixartsupply.com/imported-papers.cfm john --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Tyler Boley" <tyler@...> wrote: > > that would be - > > http://www.hiromipaper.com/ > > they do have a lot to play with, and I believe they even custom made the paper for Ashes > and Snow. > > Tyler > > > --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, deandadin@ wrote: > > > > There is a place in Santa Monica California that sells Japanese Gampi paper. > > Heromi paper carries many different types of this paper inc coated and un > > coated for digital printing. Hi John, yes you are right. Amadou sent me some Mulberry to try some time ago and it worked well. I just assumed it was from Hiromi, so this is good to know. I wish I had time to try all this stuff... Tyler --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "john dean" <deanwork2003@...> wrote:

Thanks to all of you who replied. That was a great help! I did some searching and found a European reseller that carries the Moab Moenkopi line of papers (many Moab resellers, but I found only one that carried the Moenkopi papers). I ordered some small quantities for a trial. For europeans that are interested as well: http://www.lifefoto.de/ Joost

Just received my Moenkopi Unruo 55 and Kozo 110 papers from Lifefoto.de (very quick btw!). A first impression: both seem to be very nice papers, albeit rather warm. Personally I would liked to have them a bit whiter, but it may work out. Unryu has a very visible fiber structure. Nice, but to my taste too dominant for normal use, will be great for an occaisional effect. Kozo is much more subtle, slight texture, bit transparant. This is what I was looking for (apart from its warmth). From the image on their site, Hiromipaper seems to offer a whiter version of a similar paper, IJ-0462 Aya White, but only delivered in single sheet (A2) versions, which makes this rather expensive, that on top of shipment costs to Europe. Phoenix in South Carolina was also suggested, but I can't find these papers on their website. I will do some test with the Moenkopi Kozo paper, but I remain interested in a whiter version, preferably but not necessary from a Eurpean supplier. Any further suggestions? Joost
