Epson 2880

Epson 2880

2008-05-21 by Greg

I din't see much with a search, but it is coming. From what I have
found the downside is that it STILL only has 8 inks installed at once.
Also says something about a Radiance(tm) technology to improve
highlight and shadow detail and that it requires no calibration (to
fight off those that think the spectro built into several of the HP
printers is important). Down to 3 pico liter drop sizes. Maybe the
Vivid Magenta is new too, not sure since I haven't been keeping up on
things.

Don't ask me where, don't ask me how, but that's what the sales
literature says. Pretty much the rest is the same as the 2400.

Checkout the blog at Red River Paper. There is a link in their new
email newsletter to a British review of the new printer. Seems like
they went to a 9 ink system I thought. Good news for me since I do
black and white. They have four black slots: PK, MK, LK, and LLK.

So sorry but the review here says there are still only 8 slots and a
still wasteful purge of all heads when switching blacks. How dumb of
Epson...

I think its even worse than before; it looks like the 3800 setup
with stationary carts and feed-lines to the head. That means a great
deal more ink wasted than the previous desktop designs! At least the
3800 only needs to puge the head itself.

They didn't mention that in the PDF that I saw. That would be much
worse as you would waste the 5cc for purging the head, plus probably
at least another 5cc in the line. probably end up with a 20 cc loss to
make sure that the line was really clean and all you were getting was
the different ink.

I think the PDF should surface in the first week of June, but I'm not
sure.

Hmmm... you may be right, looking at it closer, it's hard to tell
exactly. Let us know when you get more info!

Epson 2880

Just got my Epson 2880 yesterday to replace my recently deceased 2200. What
a great printer ! I no longer need to buy fancy inksets to do the B&W and
toned prints I ant and the color is fabulous. Printing is fast, and nearly
dead quiet. I have to check to see if it's really printing. Merry Christmas
to me !
