The UT7 and UT-3D are made from the some basic inks. They should be
very similar with respect to gloss differential. I'm not sure about
dmax. The 3D used a more dense single PKN, but the UT7 uses 2
channels to make its 100% black.
> is glossy optimizer used ?
No, not on either one. However with the UT7 the Y-position is a
sepia ink. If you remove that the non-sepia tones will still be
good, and you can put Glop in the Y position. This does not work for
the 3D inkset.

No, you should be able to get a decent dmax with the M and C channels
firing. See the curves I made for the inkset.
If you're using QTR, you can put in a PK, however.

The LK is the ink spot I'd consider redundant if QTR is used. So,
you might want to use that for the PK. However you arrange the inks
with a rip, the LK is not very useful, as it was mixed for the Epson
driver and a compromise that was needed mostly to avoid the cross-
overs from interferring too much.

The C and LC are carbon. The M and LM are neutralized cool toners.
The Y is a sepia that is largely color. The LK is slightly
neutralized.

I don't recommend UT7 for what you're trying to do.
See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/4K+.pdf
When I was doing toning of carbon inks in my hextone printers I
switched to non-blended inks.
The avaiable toners with the correct toning color to reach neutral or
sepia are themselves blends that are subject to the same problem. UT
1 has a blended toner that had the right tone. I think if you're
interested in non-blended inks, you're better off with the setup
described in the link above.
Good luck with the setup.
