Anyone using these inks and/or carts in their R800/R1800 printer? Thoughts...? http://www.inkjetcarts.us/-strse-25/Refill-Inks-R800-R1800/Detail.bok? sfs=57989399 http://www.inkjetcarts.us/-strse-10/Epson-R1800-R800-SP/Detail.bok? sfs=57989399 Thanks, Scott

Looks good... but I wonder how they can sell those carts in view of the Epson suit. After all, MIS can no longer sell them. How do these people do it? Just wondering ... ! But more power to them.

I bought some third party carts on Ebay for my R1800 (to fill with MIS eboni ink) that look very much like the ones for sale by this seller. They leaked from day one and I gave up on them pretty quickly. The empty carts I bought from MIS have been rock solid. Scott, Yes, I am using InkJetCarts products in my R1800 and have been very satisfied. The inks they sell for the R1800 are made by Image Specialists and are top notch. I am also using their $30 CIS in my CX9400Fax multifunction machine and am also very satisfied. The owner, Ross, is very knowledgeable and willing to help. I highly recommend them. Bob bob@... Scott, I forgot to add I am also using the carts you pointed to. I've had no problems with them. However, they have self-resetting chips which means they do not indicate the true ink levels. The reason for this is that they allow you to refill the carts in the printer without having to remove them. This prevents air from getting into the head during cart changes, the major source of "missing jet" problems. In order to do this, you need to keep track of how many prints you've made between fillings and then refill all the carts at once. Before using these carts I had missing jets every time I changed carts. I've not had the problem once since switching. However, you do need to count your prints. Bob bob@... Hi Jim, "The empty carts I bought from MIS have been rock solid." See, I have the opposite problem. About 3-4 years ago, I bought MIS re- fillable carts for my R800 and they were horrible. MIS didn't want to do anything about it. The carts I bought from MIS for the C-86, have been, as you say, rock solid. I'm looking for carts for an Epson1400. I don't want to go the CIS route because I have periods of a few weeks or months when the printer sits idle. I'm afraid of the inks "settling". With carts, they get agitated when the head moves. Hi Bob, Do you know if you're able to mix standard carts with the ACR chip carts? The ultimate for me would be to be able to use the standard "color" carts with an ACR chipped MK (Eboni)cart in the black position. That way, when I need to do a "run" of color prints, I could just switch out the blacks. > ... how do they get around the Epson suit?! I, also, don't know the answer to this. However, based on my experience in goverment, I'd guess Customs agency people simply don't think there is enough public interest here to warrant much if any expenditure of scarce agency resources. Imagine if you were in charge of allocating limited Customs' agency budget dollars. Would you instruct your agents to spend there time enforcing an Epson monopoly that will drive up prices to U.S. purchasers? Paul www.PaulRoark.com

Excellent answer! Where reason cannot prevail, money does! As far as how they can sell them, Ross told me (if my memory is correct.) that the self-resetting carts are exempt from the court action. I am no expert on this and I do not know the source of Ross's information. Bob bob@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

The real problem I have had with third party carts is that there doesn't seem to be any consistency in manufacturing. If you order someone's carts six months from now they might be a totally different design and quality from what you are getting now. The good carts I get from MIS now were not the same carts they were selling for the R1800 a while back. When I find carts that work for me, I usually order extras. Scott No, you cannot mix self-resetting carts with standard carts. However, since you are considering swapping carts to go from color to B&W (which I do), you could just use two sets of self-resetting carts. That way if you print enough prints on the currently installed carts that you need t refill, you would avoid air in the jets. Your refill interval would be determined by whatever cart currently installed has the most prints on it. Bob bob@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

This appears to drive MIS nuts also. A major part of the services they try to provide to the market is testing the carts and buying those that work. But, even if the samples are great, the production batch they receive may not be. Then again, batch 1 may be excellent but batch 2 not so good, and getting the Chinese companies to take back a large order is apparently not so simple for a company the size of MIS. Also, recently I ordered some carts from MIS but first asked if they were the spongeless refillables... and the MIS tech said yes, they were. I asked him how they got around the suit and he said something like the fact that these carts contained an ink not made by Epson that the cart did not infringe on Epson's line of carts. Also, these did not have the auto-reset chips. When these carts ran dry, I simply refilled them with my bulk supply of Eboni ink and reset the chips. In fact, I've refilled them several times. Voila, just as things have always been, when I ordered the empty spongeless refillables from MIS. In part, I've answered my own question, above, but was just curious how this particular supplier got around the suit. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Bob Marsolais" <bob@...> wrote: > > Excellent answer!
