Epson printers and double sided papers.....??

Epson printers and double sided papers.....??

2008-08-11 by Sarah Renkes

It seems like my whole printing world is collapsing, what with "upgrading" to Leopard (which
I felt forced to do as so many new applications were not being supported in Panther) and just
now being told by an Epson tech person that I should just go back to Panther becuase there
will never be a new driver released for the 2200 (despite the outcry)....and now this:

I'm trying to print on Moab Entrada double sided 4x6 paper for some promo cards, and the
printer won't release the paper properly, but keeps going, thus I get double images on the
edges. The Epson tech simply said I can't use double sided paper...period.

Does anyone else here print on double sided matte paper with an Epson, and if so, which
ones work?

Between this and the Leopard/Epson 2200 driver issue I'm completely stymied.

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Sarah,
I have the 2100 and only ever use double-sided papers.

Are you talking about the paper moving as it leaves the rollers and making a double edge on the end inside the printer?

I find I need a 2cm margin on the side of the paper last to leave the printer and then I'm safe. The smallest I ever print with this paper is A5, however, which leaves more space around the print. You may just have to make the image smaller. Or use a larger piece of paper (A5/half letter) and cut it down after printing.

I print on Entrada 300 a lot and never have any such problems.

But PremierArt Matt BW is a good cheaper alternative.

I find that tech support people often know less than we, the consumers, do - sadly.

"Are you talking about the paper moving as it leaves the rollers and making a

Richard, that's sort of it. It looks like the image is finished printing but the paper isn't
being pushed out. I have to physically remove it and still the printer keeps making noise
likes it's printing for about 20 seconds. The result is the double edge on the end of the
print, but only on one side. The other side prints fine. I wonder if thicker paper might help
the printer grab the paper to push out....the Entrada I'm using is only 190 gsm.

If thicker paper isn't the answer, I"ll try printing on larger paper and cutting....something
I"m loathe to do just because I"m not that good at cutting perfectly, even with a paper
cutter.

Thanks!
