printer choice

2008-08-26 by sstormb@aol.com

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the question that has probably been asked many times before BUT do need some advice.
I
want to buy a printer 13 x 19 that has archival inks and does both
B&W and Color well. Want neutral B&W prints. So far it looks
like a choice between the Canon 9500 and Epson 2400. Having said that
has anybody had good luck with other printers? I understand the HP 9180
and 8850 show bronzing. What about the Epson 2880? Is switching out the
inks for B&W a pain with the Epsons?

Best printer is?

Much thanks,

Bill

I like my R1800 set up for 3k (all black) and matte color. The R1800 has been replaced with the R1900, but I am sure you can find a low mileage one. The only disadvantage is that this is a non-glossy printer only. The inks are archival. Check the MIS web site for details on the process.

It is a very easy B&W printing system to run and maintain. The B&W prints are beautiful. The color great to.

You can try the Epson 1400 with MIS Eboni in the black slot for Black
Only printing. All the remaining colour carts can retain the OEM
Claria Inks. For <$300, the Epson 1400 is the most affordable 13x19
printer.

Hi,
I've read that the HP's bronzing is pretty much cured by spraying.

Bear in mind that the Epson 2880 has 11ml carts as opposed to the HP which has 27ml carts.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
