Error Code on Epson Pro 7500

Error Code on Epson Pro 7500

2008-08-30 by Josef Pollak

Hi
I have followed the mailings in this group for a couple of years now,
and it has been a great help..... Thanks to you ALL.
Now to my question, two weeks ago, when I changed a roll of canvas on
my Epson Pro 7500, the printer made a noise and started to flash all
the lights in the panel. The error code I got is "SERVICE REQ.
00010004".
After trying to reset and...... finaly I contacted Epson here in
Sweden, but without geting any help or explaining the error code.
Has anyone seen this error message before? What can be done about this?

I´m most greatful for any help.
Josef

 From Epson's site:

Service Request errors in the range 00010004 -
000101D are related to a carriage movement
problem. In some instances like paper jams, the
carriage locking tab may be partially pushed in,
causing the carriage locking mechanism to put a
drag on the carriage or lock the carriage
completely. This will cause a carriage error.
Make sure the carriage locking tab is pulled to
the left. Then turn the printer’s power off and
release the carriage by pushing down on the
cutter blade. Slide the carriage to the left and
look for any paper that also may be restricting
the carriage from moving freely.

00010004CR Motor encoder check error

Hope this helps.

Hi Josef.
There is what appears to be a clear plastic ribbon that passes through
a slot and sensor on the print head as the head travels. Check to see
if it is out of position as this would cause your error. It is very
easy to move it about, if paper ever gets jammed around the print head
carriage or something pushed through the paper path is curled and
strikes it.

Regards.
Duane
