R800 3MK higher D-MAx than 1400 BO?

R800 3MK higher D-MAx than 1400 BO?

2008-10-18 by scott_now_coming

Any one here using the R800/1800 3MK set-up AND the 1400 BO set-up also?

I printed a solid black rectangle with each set-up. I was surprised to
see that the 3MK rectangle with QUITE a bit denser than the 1400 BO
rectangle.

Unfortunately, I don't have any measuring tools to taking any readings.

Can anyone here try this test and see if you see what I'm seeing?

Thanks,
Scott

Hello Scott - if you look at Paul Roark's second post in the thread
titiled "Epson 1400 with 3MK" (several topics up from this one) he
notes that there is slightly better Dmax with 3MK in the 1800. Paul W.

For the most part where QTR is used for both the 1400 and 1800 are clos
enough that I would not consider it an issue. Where it really makes a
difference is with un-coated papers. There the 3 channels can do a
significant better job than one, but not that many people print on
Arches Hot Press (uncoated) anyway. The 3MK can actually hit 1.6 on
it -- although there is some un-even finish from 95%- 100% when this
much ink is poured on the paper. Under glass, however, this unevenness
does not show.

Thanks Paul, I must have missed that post. 3MK in the 1800/800 looks
great and I never even think of it as being BO. However, I really like
the simplicity of just loading one MK into the 1400.

Either way though, the quality of prints with MK BO is truely
outstanding.
