epson 1400: What clean/purge cart?

epson 1400: What clean/purge cart?

What cleaning and purge cart do you need for an Epson 1400? I'm ordering the UT14 cart
set from http://www.inksupply.com and want to ensure the heads are cleaning when
switching from the original ink to the UT14 set.

For 1400 cleaning carts, see
http://www.inksupply.com/epson_cartridges.cfm

Scroll down to the 1400 line. The cleaning carts are just under the
OEM Epson carts.

Thanks! Is it necessary to buy a full set (all 6)?

I don't really know if it's necessary to buy any. They are nice to
have around if you should get a bad clog or if you're going to leave
the printer unused for a long period (which is the main way to get a
clog).

Just so I'm clear, I'm going to get the UT14 ink set which I plan on using with the 1400
once the carts that come with the printer are finished. I don't need to use a cleaning cart
when I change from the factory carts to the UT14 carts?

I can't say for sure whether cleaning carts are needed, but it's the
safe way to go.

Out of curiousity, I just pulled the Claria carts from my 260 that
were in there only because someone wanted a profile for that setup.
I re-installed the MIS carts. They were color carts with Eboni, but
the MIS color inks use the same base as the UT inks. I printed a
purge page and checked the nozzles. I did, in fact, have one gap. I
can't tell what caused that, but it's possible there is a slight
incompatibility between the inksets. So, to be totally safe, you
might want to go ahead and purchase the cleaning carts.
