Epson R2400 flashing

Epson R2400 flashing

2008-11-17 by lestihor

My R2400 stopped printing. I went to Epson troubleshooting without
success. Power light is off, ink and paper lights flash rapidly in
sync. I can't find any paper blockage and the ink cart carrier seems
to move freely. I tried turning the printer and computer off and
disconnecting power to both for a few minutes, but did not solve the
problem. Anybody have any ideas?

Les
you have a fatal error The printer found something wrong during it
post Which could be a number of things Like ink system, paper feed,
motors, Sensors.
What happened?
Did you get a paper jam and you pulled out the Paper?

No, no paper jam. Just turned everything on this morning and printer
had flashing error lights. We did have a couple of power outages
yesterday. I wonder if there could have been surges with the outages
that could have caused the problem. I just noticed that the printer is
the only piece of equipment not on a surge protector.

Les
Did you remove the data cable and power on?. Sound like it has to go
in for service to see where the problem is. If the MB is bad your
looking at around $200 to repair.

Joe, when I googled the problem there was reference to cleaning the
waste ink pads and using a program to reset the ink counter. Do you
think this may work? If so, how would I release the ink cart carrier
in order to get at the waste ink pads? I tried to download the SSC
Service Utilities software, but it would not download.

I had a similar problem with an Epson R800. It would simply shut down
and I could not power it up. I found if I let it sit overnight it
usually fixed the problem. I have no idea what was going on, but it
worked.

With the power outages, your 2400 may be covered under your homeowners insurance even if it is out of warranty. It can't hurt to check with your agent.

[Digital BW] Re: Epson R2400 flashing

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I finally had success with a fairly
non-technical approach. I removed the carts, turned the printer over,
gave it a good shake and replaced the carts. That fixed it. There must
have been a small particle of something that made the machine think
there was a paper jam.
