need ICC profile for R1800 and Moab Lasal paper

need ICC profile for R1800 and Moab Lasal paper

2008-12-08 by Paul Whiting

Is it customary for folks to share profiles in this forum? I've looked
at Paul's instructions for constructing such a profile, but it looks
to be a bit over my depth right now. I'm using QTR with Paul's 3MK
approach and although there are several Moab papers listed, Lasal is
not one of them. I've been using the profile for Kayenta, doesn't look
too bad. Also, do these papers contain OBAs?

By the way, I heard somewhere that Moab was bringing Kayenta back, but
I couldn't see it on their website.

Paul: QTR doesn't use ICC profiles to print -- it uses the .quad
files that are generated by QTR based on the info in the .qidf
files. Note, both are text files and can be opened with a text
editor if you are interested.

However, QTR comes bundled with several QTR-Create-ICC executables
in the One-EYE folder (at least on the Windows install) if you want
to create an ICC profile for use with other ICC aware programs and
print drivers.

Thanks very much, Jeff, I'm beginning to understand. This leads to
another question, however!

How then can I obtain a .quad file for the Lasal paper? If I had the
.qidf file for Lasal, would QTR somehow generate the .quad file - and
how would that happen?

Paul

Put the *.qidf file in the appropriate R1800-3MK profile folder. Then
open it in the Curve Creator (Windows -- I DK Mac). Hit "Show Curve"
and QTR will generate the *.quad file that the rip needs.

Thanks, Paul, but where do get the .qidf file for Lasal paper? I've
looked at the Help file in Quadtone RIP but I'm afraid that's over my
head.

Sheesh, Paul, I'm sorry... I didn't know where to look on your
website. Found it, unzipped it, loaded it in Curve Creator, clicked on
"Show File" and got the .quad file right away. Simple, now, in retrospect!

Thanks so much,
