Ready to Buy Ink and Carts - Anything else?

Ready to Buy Ink and Carts - Anything else?

2008-12-15 by Pat Kalbaugh

I'm ready to give this a shot on my 4 year old R1800. My reasons
include the price of OEM ink being outrageous, throwing away all
these empty OEM carts into our landfill (I just think it is wasteful
and stupid), but the main reason is to see if I can get better b/w
prints out of this printer. It's always been a problem. Sometimes
they are great (neutral tone wysiwyg from the monitor) but sometimes
they have a major cyan overall tint to them. I also want to try
pigmented ink instead of photo ink for archival purposes.

So, I'm at inkcarts.com and I'm looking at:

PrintersKit Epson SP R800 R1800 Pigmented Set

Anything else I need to get while I'm ordering - like something to
flush out the current OEM inks?

What about the print head cleaner system? Is that useful?

Do I need something to reset the chip or are these carts all auto reset?

Also, I don't see "Eboni" per se...is that assumed to be in the
pigment ink photo and matte black inks?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Pat,

If you just want to print b&w, all you need is the matte black
pigment ink and then download QuadTone Rip(QTR).

I'd give BO printing through QTR a try first, before going to a 6 ink
b&w set-up.
