??? Printing on Baryta

??? Printing on Baryta

2009-01-11 by Randy Rancier

Here are a couple more questions:

•	Are any of the more stable B&W inksets compatible with any of the Baryta papers or
other fiber based papers that have a similar look? Or is it best to stick with the manufactures
inksets (for glossy), when printing on these types of papers? I, like many of you, really do like
the look of my old gelatin silver prints and need to satisfy that craving as well.

•	I understand that you can print on some of the baryta papers like Ilford's Gold Fibre Silk
using the Eboni-6 inkset if you spray the image to protect it as explained by Paul. So what
are the downsides to doing this, as Paul states that spraying prints isn't something he
recommends?

Feel Free to reference me to other places or post if it's quicker or easier!

Thanks again,
Randy

Randy,

It sounds like you want tone variability with glossy and matte
printing -- without changing inks.

See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/4K+.pdf

I think you might want to consider this approach.
